KID JUDOKAS from the YMCA-Kaitagi Judo Club of the YMCA of Baguio, Inc. who participated in the recently concluded Kids and Juniors Category in the 2nd All Women Martial Arts Festival held at the SM Mega Trade Hall 2, held from May 24 – 27, 2015 bagged 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 2 bronze medals in their final matches.
Forming part of the Baguio Judo Team for the juniors and Kids girls category, Mariah Christine Pauly and Zaiira Aquitania bested their opponents in the 8-10 years old 30 and 35 kilograms kids girls division bringing home a gold medal each while Kaye Ales in the 8-10 years old 30 kilograms division won the bronze medal for the kids category.
Teammate Andrea De Leon who fought under the 12-14 years old, 45 kilogram Kids girls category also settled for bronze in her final match, while Zia Aquitania in the 8-10 years old 45 kilogram kids category landed on the fourth place on her final match-up. Meanwhile, Charmea Quelino under the 16 years old, 55 kilograms Juniors Girls Category bested bigger opponents to bag the silver medal.
Meanwhile, adding to the Judo medal haul are Cordillera women judokas from the University of the Cordilleras, University of Baguio and the Cordillera Career Development College representing the CAR region in the 15-17 years old all white belt cadets category and the 16-20 years old open belt juniors division respectively are; Shalimar Masong who bagged two silver medals in the cadets and junior division.
Other winners in the competition were; Clarissa Gasingan – Silver medal, Russel Tablang –Bronze Medal, Jona Jane Dodon – Bronze Medal, and Jaya Anne uvell Dacay – Bronze Medal, adding the total medal haul of the Cordillera women Judokas of 2 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals and 6 Bronze Medals. The CAR women Judo representatives were supported by the City government for Baguio Judokas, the Cordillera Judo Association and their respective school institutions.
