YMCA Cup Semi-final on August 17

BAGUIO CITY- The 9th YMCA Cup semi-final round is scheduled to start on August 17, 2015 at 7:00 in the evening at the YMCA gym here, following determination of the top four teams in four brackets Y, M, C, A. Winners of a following a cross-over match-up between the top one versus the top four team and the top two versus the top three team in the elimination round for all brackets will vie for the championships slated on August 30, 2015,.

Following rules on cross-over matches, the top two teams shall have the advantage of a “twice to beat” playoffs during the semi-finals. The finals will feature a knock-out game playoff to determine the champion, while a knock-out game shall ensue to determine the third and fourth placers in every bracket.

Meanwhile, as games in the elimination round are nearing conclusion, the top four teams in each bracket starts to emerge as determined by their team standings as per their win-loss card tally. The first teams to see action on the semi-final round will be from bracket “M” namely: Baguio Water District -A (no. 2 rank) matching-up against the MASTERS (no.3 rank), game time at 7:00 pm. Seeing action in game 2 will be the YMCA Basketball Stars (rank no. 1) up against GT QUEST (rank no. 2) at 8:00 pm at the YMCA gym on August 17.

Also seeing action in the semi-final round for bracket “A” on August 19 will be the Strawberry Pickers (rank no. 2) against Baguio Water District – A (rank. No.3) in game 1 at 7:00 PM and game 2 action will see St. Peter (rank no.1) clashing against Team YMCA (rank no. 4) at 8:00 pm also at the YMCA gym.On the other hand, the top four teams for brackets “Y” and “C” will see action for the semi-final round on August 21, following their final games for the elimination round on August 16.

Tracking down games for the elimination round scheduled last August 10, 2015, KUYA PONZ won over REUNITE by 17 points 89-72, while BWD-B inched away TEAM YMCA by 2 points, 84-82. Strawberry Pickers also bucketed their sixth win over DSWD, 69-59, while SWAGG muscles a win over the Bodybuilding Club, 86-58. King Louis Flower Shop gave up two losses by default to the Admirals and the King Tigers also lost by default to the Phantoms on their games scheduled on August 9.
