PEÑARRUBIA, Abra – A 58-year old widow died after he was repeatedly stabbed by his own son-in-law inside his house due to an alleged old grudge at sitio Galgalinis, Poblacion, here, Sunday night.
Superintendent Mark Pespes, officer-in-charge of the Abra Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Roberto Baluawe Malangen, 58, widow, farmer, and a resident of Sitio Bangcag, barangay Naguirayan, Pidigan, Abra while he named the suspect as his own son-in-law, Jessie Fernandez Reyes Jr., 37, married, farmer, and a resident of Sitio Galgalinis, Barangay Poblacion, Penarrubia, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was watching television when the suspect arrived and suddenly uttered on why he was being allegedly criticized by the victim.
The suspect suddenly went near the victim and stabbed him several times on his back inflicting multiple stab wounds on the different parts of his body before fleeing towards an undisclosed direction.
The victim was immediately rushed by concerned relatives to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians while the suspect was arrested during a followup operation by responding police operatives.
A case of murder is being prepared for filling against the suspect who is now detained in the local police station.
