TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Councilor Zorayda Mia Wacnang attended the first regular flag-raising ceremony of the Tabuk city government for the New Year, her first flag raising ceremony as Acting Vice Mayor.
Wacnang spoke before officials and employees of Tabuk where she expressed optimism for a better relationship between the executive and legislative departments.
She said that though the relationship between the two branches has been affected as its leaders has not always seen eye-to-eye, she is looking forward to establishing the link between the two as she takes over as Acting Vice Mayor.
She also called on fellow officials to set aside politics in the interest of serving the constituents of Tabuk City.
“It is important that we, as a community, establish that link that has been severely affected before. The link between the executive and legislative department, the link between the Vice Mayor’s Office and all other departments of the city because I believe nga amin met a banag ket mapagtungtungan,” Wacnang said.
“When it comes kuma to the service being rendered to the public, diyay serbisyo a maipaay kuma iti publiko, all the affairs of the local government unit of Tabuk, ket sapay kuma ta we put aside politics,” she added.
She sought the help of Mayor Darwin Estrañero and the city government heads of offices as she begins her work as head of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
“I am appealing to each and every one of you to please help me in dispensing the services of the Vice Mayor’s Office, as the head of the Sangguniang Panlungsod metlaeng,” she said.
Wacnang took her oath as Acting Vice Mayor last December 28, 2021, a day after the Department of Interior and Local Government served a one-year suspension order to Vice Mayor Bernard Glenn Dao-as over an ‘illegal’ land conversion case filed against him by a certain Jude Clint Dirige Escario.
Wacnang’s assumption of the post of Acting Vice Mayor is based on the rule of succession that the highest ranking member of the Sanggunian shall temporarily replace the vice mayor in the latter’s absence.
