BAGUIO CITY – A 36-year old driver was hurt after he was stabbed by an assailant while on his way back to his parked vehicle along Chanum St. here recently.
Senior Superintendent George Daskeo, officer-in-charge of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the victim as Jerald Bentrez, Depayso, 36, married, van driver, and a resident of Camp 7, Baguio City while he named the arrested suspect as Pio Humiding, 74, married, and a resident of Holygost, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed the victim noticed that the suspect was staring him while drinking coffee in one of the establishments and while he was on his way back to his parked vehicle, the suspect suddenly stabbed him on his back.
Upon noticing that he was stabbed, the victim sought the assistance of a fellow van driver who brought him to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment while responding police operatives were able to arrest the fleeing suspect and recovered from his possession a homemade knife which he used in the stabbing incident.
The suspect was brought to the BCPO headquarters for temporary detention awaiting the filing of attempted murder charges against him before the city prosecutor’s office.
