The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) in its regular web-based session on May 10, endorsed to the Department of Health (DOH) the application for a license to operate a 47-bed capacity of the Pozorrubio Community Hospital (PCH).
This developed after the provincial board unanimously approved Provincial Resolution No. 2356-2021 for the purpose.
Authored by SP Members Jeremy Agerico B. Rosario, Rosary Gracia P. Perez-Tababa and Nicholi Jan Q. Sison, the resolution stated that “the hospital’s statistics show that between the actual implementing beds and authorized bed capacity, there is a significant increase in the number of patients being serviced by the hospital for the past years.”
At present, PCH which is one of the 14 hospitals operated by the Pangasinan Provincial Government, is operating on a 16-bed capacity.
“The Pozorrubio Community Hospital, together with the Urdaneta District Hospital, caters to patients coming from the different municipalities and other areas from nearby localities of the 5th District of Pangasinan,” the resolution disclosed.
In addition, the resolution stated “the increase of bed capacity is in line with the main thrusts of the present administration to have a mass-based health care program to accommodate all people especially the less fortunate sector of society, there is a need to support the plan of the Pozorrubio Community Hospital to provide a sufficient and higher level of medical and health services to its patients by increasing its bed capacity from 16 to 47.”
Prior to the issuance of a license to operate, a provincial board resolution is required by the DOH to facilitate the issuance of the permit to construct or upgrade a health facility. (/Ruby R. Bernardino)
