SNAP Group lauded for its health and safety practices

Renewable energy solutions provider SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP) Group’s SNAP-Benguet and SNAP-Magat units were recognized by the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Safety and Health Association of Philippine Energy Sector (SHAPES) for their exemplary safety and health practices during the 17th Energy Safety and Health Conference hosted by DOE and SHAPES held virtually on December 2, 2021.

Under the Corporate Safety and Health Excellence Award category, SNAP-Benguet’s Ambuklao and Binga plants bagged the Titanium Award, while the Magat and Maris Hydroelectric Power Plants received the Gold and Silver Awards, respectively.

The Titanium award is given to companies that have qualified for having recorded 7 years or 15 million manhours without Lost Time Accident (LTA); Magat the gold award qualifier is 5 years or 10 million manhours without LTA, while the silver award ranges from 3 years or 5 million manhours without LTA.

SNAP’s Ambuklao and Binga HEPPs have a total of 5,190,436 million man-hours as of Nov 2021 and 8-9 years with no lost time incident (LTI). Meanwhile, the Magat and Maris HEPPs combined have logged a total of 2,005,069 million manhours with no LTI.

One of the company’s core values is safety. The group’s high value on safety was further validated by the company’s safety professionals awardees, who were instrumental in implementing safety and health policies that enabled the company to achieve zero LTI. Clifford Dailay, Hollis Fernandez, and Jessie Palma were Titanium awardees; Rachelle Anne Severo, Cheryl Ragsac, Eliseo Rey Ingles, and Barry Yabut were Gold awardees; Jimmy Bacena and Jillann Jacinto were Silver awardees, and Jose Lachica was a Bronze awardee for this year’s Outstanding Safety and Health Professionals.

SNAP HEPPs has been recognized by SHAPES on multiple occasions over the years for its implementation of global-standard health and safety practices in their operations —staying true to their promise of powering positive change.
