LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Benguet Caretaker Congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Yap will be providing recovered patients from the dreaded Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) from the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) with rice assistance to start them off after their discharge from the health facility.
Yap, who chairs the powerful House Committee on Appropriations, stated this simple token patients is a feature his concern for them and for family breadwinners to have something for their families while going back to normalcy in their lives.
He said that the distribution of the rice assistance to the recovered COVID patients started recently for those confined at the BeGH while appropriate arrangements are being worked out with the 5 district hospitals on how to give the recovered COVID patients the similar assistance.
Further, the Office of Congressman Yap is also trying to work out arrangements for the provision of the similar rice assistance to previously recovered COVID patients confined at the BeGH and the 5 district hospitals so that there will be no violations in their privacy.
Initially, Congressman Yap stockpiled some 500 cavans of rice for the patients who will be discharged from the BeGH and that the additional supply will be procured once this will be consumed.
He pointed out that this rice assistance to recovered patients is part of the overall assistance and service being extended by his office to the people of Benguet who are in need of aid during these difficult times for them to be able to be gradually and safely brought back to normalcy in their employment and economic activities disrupted by their illness.
According to him, it is during these difficult times that people need assistance from concerned government agencies and local governments thus he is going out of his way to look for any means by which he could assist the residents living in remote villages as they are the ones that had been heavily impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Congressman Yap assured Benguet residents that assistance from his office will continue through a scheduled distribution in their respective places to avoid people from being unnecessarily exposed to the elements that might cause them to contract the virus and affect their health condition. By HENT
