TABUK CITY, Kalinga – An 18-year old rape suspect was able to escape from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) District jail when he took advantage of the alleged laxed security while they were cleaning the jail premises Wednesday morning.
Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, officer-in-charge of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the jail escapee as Roel Rica Abbacan, 18, single, and resident of Laya East, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed the inmates were tasked to clean the jail premises but the escapee took advantage of the laxed security to flee from the facility.
The jail warden was only aware of the missing inmate after the head count that was done after the completion of the cleaning activities.
Manhunt is now being conducted by combined police operatives to ascertain the whereabouts of the escapee.
