BAGUIO CITY – An 8-year old Grade 4 pupil died after he was rammed over by an elf truck that was moving backward at Interior A, Balacbac, Sto. Tomas Proper, here, Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent Ramil L. Saculles, City Director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the fatality as Brent Oydoc Clenuar, 8, Grade 4 pupil at the Adiwang Elementary School and a resident of Interior A, Balacbac, Baguio City while he named the suspect as Rodrigo Kidlo Pajarillo, 41, married, carpenter/driver and a resident of Km. 6, Dontogan Greenvalley, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim, together with his three playmates, tried to hitch a ride on the rear portion of the moving vehicle but they were prevented by the driver in doing so.
Unknown to the driver, the victim went back to hitch a ride on the rear portion but he allegedly stumbled on the concrete pavement and was eventually rammed over by the elf truck.
The driver was only able to notice the incident when he felt that his vehicle jerked and that it was tapped by one of the victim’s playmates who was able to witness the incident.
Responding emergency responders from the Baguio City emergency Medical Services and police operatives declared the victim dead on the spot due to multiple head and body injuries as a result of the incident.
The driver and the ill-fated truck was brought to the BCPO Station No. 10 for safekeeping awaiting the filing of the charges to be filed against him by the victim’s family.
