LA TRINIDAD, Benguet– Benguet Caretaker Congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap and Davao City 1st District Rep. Paulo C. Duterte filed House Bill (HB) No. 7012 which is known as the Scholarship and Educational Grants to Public School Teachers and their Children Act.
The proposed law seeks to offer scholarship grants to public school teachers for their graduate and post-graduate studies and to give appropriate educational assistance in terms of cash allowance to their children enrolled in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) situated in the different parts of the country.
“Hanggang ngayon, kahit na may kinakaharap na crisis ang ating bansa, ipinapamalas ng ating mga guro ang kanilang walang patid na dedikasyon para maipaabot sa kanilang mga estudyante ang pgkakataon para mapag-aral. Kahit maraming limitasyon, sinisikap nila na maging abot-kamay ang pagkatuto sa kabataan,” Congressman Yap stressed.

Under the bill, the authors envision to offer free graduate and post-graduate studies for the public-school teachers who want to pursue higher level of education in SUCs.
Yap claimed that the enactment of the law will provide the teachers the rare chance of widening their horizon of learning and improve their skills and knowledge that they will be able to use in their profession and impart t their students the latest teaching methods that will improve the learning process.
Further, The Benguet caretaker that the children of public school teachers who are enrolled in the SUCs will be given the proposed cash allowance to help them complete their desired higher level of education and become productive citizens of the country in the future.
“We continue to strive to lift the social and economic burden from our teachers by branding them with appropriate opportunities to cultivate and enhance their expertise in a specialized area of study and by providing their children in tertiary education with educational assistance. Rest assured that we are looking into more ways to uplift the lives of our teachers to show our gratitude and appreciation for their hard work and dedication to their chosen profession.” Rep. Duterte stated.
For his part, Congressman Yap claimed that the government should give importance to the needs of the teachers and pursue the advancement of their welfare as the play a key role in molding the youth to become productive citizens as they are the pioneers in laying the solid foundation of the society.
“Kung wala ang ating mga guro, hindi magiging possible ang kahit among larangan,” Congressman Yap said.
The proposed bill will be referred to the appropriate committee in the House of Representatives for the conduct of the appropriate hearings before the same will be calendared for plenary debates before the same will be subjected to approval for third reading and subsequently transmitted to the Senate for the passage of its counterpart measure.
