SPEARHEADED by PSC Commissioner Gillian Akiko Thomson Guevara, the Philippine Sports Commission has announce finality of the conduct of the PSC 2nd All-Women Martial Arts Festival on May 25-27, 2015 at the Mega Trade Hall, SM Mega Mall in Mandaluyong City, where hundreds of women athletes are expected to participate to show their skills and talents in different sport disciplines.
Having the primary goal to instil the importance of sports to women, the Women Martial Arts Festival also aims to empower women in sports and to be able to be aware of their help and contribution for the community in the field of sports, through ten different sports disciplines where participants will see action.
Showcasing the Women Martial Arts Festival will be ten sports disciplines which will be hosted by their own National Sports Associations namely; Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Arnis, Penkat Silat, Fencing, Boxing, Muaythai, Wrestling and wushu. Deadline of submission of entries for participating local associations will be on May 11, 2015.
Meanwhile the Cordillera Judo Association will be sending its participants in five events in the individual weight categories namely; Kids,(6-8 yers old), (Kids 9-11 years old), and Kids 12-14 years old. Also in participation will be cadets 15-17 years of age, All White Belt Division, and Juniors 16-20 years old, Open Belt Competition in eight weight categories.
The competition will be open to female participants from all local Judo clubs and associations. Judo delegation meeting is also set on May 24, 2015 at 3:00 pm and the drawing of lots for pairing will follow at 4:00 in the afternoon. The Women Martial Arts Festival Judo event will be hosted by the Philippine Judo Federation.
