Last February 13, 2016, the Board of Directors, Officers and staffs of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Baguio-Benguet Chapter, Inc. conducted the 2016 Strategic Planning Session for the business leaders to know the direction of the organization this time and in the coming years. Various working committees were created. Chairpersons from the Board of Directors were given assignments and planned programs and activities that are to be implemented this 2016 and in the coming years to come.
With the above plan, the Corporate Social Responsibility activities were also included in the 2016 programs to be undertaken. Considering that Entrepreneurship Skills Development Project is one of the flagship programs of the PCCI, the Baguio-Benguet chapter, in 2010 a project entitled the BEST
(Basic Entrepreneurship Skills Training) Program was done whereby 10 (Ten) trainings on Entrepreneurship development are included in the said program with the purpose of offering to the women, out-of-school and in-school youth sector with existing and upcoming businesses.
Just recently, the PCCI-BBCI conducted the Entrepreneurship Orientation Seminar through ED
- C. Trinidad with the theme entitled ‘ENTREPRENEURSHIP – A GOOD CAREER CHOICE? The half-day seminar was attended by about 60 (sixty) college graduating students. This was done in cooperation with the College of Business Administration of the Baguio Central University. The topics discussed with some exercises were Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Generate your Business Idea, topics that are very timely for the college graduating students. The seminar enabled the students who participated in coming up with a good business idea. Moreover, it also enabled them to explore some home-based businesses and get into with a very minimal amount to start the activity.
ED T. C. Trinidad stressed in her final note that “This time has changed from that of yesteryears. There is now an increased awareness of the importance of entrepreneurship to boost the economy, as seen in the development programs of government, hence the provision of conducive and enabling environment for entrepreneurs. This is the era of the entrepreneur. Through the world, the growing numbers of people realizing their dreams of owning and operating their own businesses. Entrepreneurship is thriving. Great numbers of entrepreneurs all around launching new businesses each year… ….The entrepreneurial talent of an entrepreneur can be nurtured with the right environment….. and equally important are the business practices and social attitudes of the country on entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship”.
