The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the country’s largest business organization and “Voice of Philippine Business”, signed memoranda of understanding with TESDA and DEP-ED Last August 18, 2014 and April 20, 2015, respectively.
Both agencies have its common and major objectives in ensuring that graduates of Senior High School students of basic education are ready for employment, entrepreneurship and higher learning. In addition ti shall promote, facilitate and assist business, Commerce, Industry and Trade Associations as well as individual enterprises to conduct skills training and be engaged in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET)
Meanwhile, in consonance with the aforecited Memorandum of Understanding signed by and among the PCCI with its government partners, the Baguio, Benguet Chapter, Inc. approved the BOD Resolution No. 015, series of 2015 entitled, “ A RESOLUTION STRENOUSLY SUPPORTING DUALIZED TRAINING AND TVET PROGRAM” with the purpose to express vigorous support for Dualized Training and TVET activities to be implemented.
In pursuance to the said memorandum of understanding and local board resolutions, the PCCI-BBCI Board of Directors approved BOD Resolution No. 0-024, series of 2015 entitled “ A RESOLUTION CREATING A TVET STEERING COMMITTEE, AN ADDITIONAL WORKING COMMITTEE OF THE PCCI-BBCI INVITING PARTICIPATION OF VARIOUS STAKEHOLDERS IN TECHNICAL EDUCATION AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT”.
The Local Chamber TVET Committee composed of various stakeholders from private and government agencies as follows: TESDA, PEZA, DTI, DOLE, City Government of Baguio, Academe, Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) and other related stakeholders.
Mr. Vladimir Cayabas, an active member of the PCCI-BBCI, the incumbent President of the Cordillera Technical Vocational Institutions and the Administrator of National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT) was recently appointed to Chair the PCCI-BBCI TVET COMMITTEE.
