LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – More than P2 million worth of marijuana plants were successfully uprooted and destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during separate marijuana eradication operations in this capital town and nearby Sablan here, Monday afternoon.
Personnel of the Benguet Provincial Police, the Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) 14, Sablan Municipal Police Station (MPS), operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Cordillera, and Benguet Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) Benguet recieved a tip of a marijuana plantation in Sitio Taleb, Banangan Sablan, Benguet. The operatives went to the area to verify the report.
The law enforcers were able to confirm the tip where 11, 900 fully grown marijuana plants dotted four sites in the said area with total land area of 2, 380 square meters. The police estimated that the plants have a dangerous drugs board (DDB) value of P2,380,000 pesos.
Said Marijuana plants were uprooted and burned onsite.
No cultivators were arrested during the operation.
At the same date, members of the La Trinidad MPS, some opeearives of Benguet PDEU, Provincial Intelligence Bureau, Benguet Provincial Police Office, RIU 14 and PDEA Cordillera conducted an eradication operation at Sitio Tuba, Barangay Wangal La Trinidad, Benguet. They discovered around 2,750 fully grown marijuana plants in a 475 square meter land. Street value of the plants is estimated at P550,000.
