KIBUNGAN, Benguet – More thanPP25.1 million worth of marijuana plants were destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during a two-day marijuana eradication operation last February 11-12, 2016 at sitio Bekes here.
Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, said the destroyed illegal hemp was composed of 53,900 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants, 110,000 grams of dried marijuana stalks and 3,000 grams of marijuana seeds which were planted in a land area of 2,850 square meters.
However, no marijuana cultivator was arrested considering that they were able to move out from the area prior to the arrival of the operating troops.
The marijuana eradication operation is a continuing activity of law enforcers and anti-narcotics agents in order to significantly reduce the supply of the illegal hemp being circulated not only in the region but also in other parts of the country.
