P1 million reward offered for prosecutor’s killers

CONNER, Apayao  – The son of the slain Ilagan City, Isabela Deputy Prosecutor Victor Begtang Jr. through his social media page announced that the family will be giving P1 million as a reward to those who could help in the identification of his father’s killers.

In the afternoon of June 23, 2021, Deputy Prosecutor Begtang was assassinated by two gunmen in Sitio Hanhan, Barangay Malama here. He was with his laborers in his auto-repair shop that time.

Based on the results of the initial investigation of the police, the prosecutor saw one of his killers pointing a gun at him. Begtang alerted his companions who scampered to different directions during the shooting incident.

Begtang ran towards his residence but met the second gunman. He tried to escape from the killers but was cornered. The suspects them pumped bullets on his body then immediately fled the site on board their getaway motorcycle.

Begtang was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

His son Justin appealed to the public who have information about the killers of his father to report to the police or to contact the numbers 09676792887, 09673020934 and 09278634851.

The younger Begtang said a reward of P1 million will be given to anyone who could give information that could help in the identification of the two suspects.
