AGOO, La Union  – More than P1-million cash and a laptop computer worth P70,000 were lost after a lone unidentified robber allegedly barged into the municipal treasurer’s office here at dawn Tuesday, according to police report.

The Agoo police, led by the officer-in-charge Superintendent Erwin Dayag, suspected that the incident happened at dawn between March 13-16 as the suspect took advantage of the weekend to pursue his evil motive inside the municipal hall of this town.

The office of Treasurer Wilma Ballesil-Suniega is just a meter close to the police station, thus, investigators are wondering why policemen on duty were not able to notice the illegal activity inside the treasury office over the weekend.

Based on initial investigation, the suspect, allegedly seen on close circuit television camera, forcibly opened the door of the Treasurer’s office and took the laptop and the money inside the drawer before leaving the crime scene unnoticed by police authorities nearby.

Police said the incident happened sometime on the eve of March 13 to March 16 where there were no workers inside the office for several days, thus, the suspect was able to pursue the carting away of the collection of the treasury office and the unit of equipment.

Investigators are still in the process of identifying the suspect caught on CCTV camera through the validation and assessment process.

Mayor Zandra Eriguel strongly condemned the robbery incident inside the municipal treasury office and ordered the local police e to conduct an in-depth investigation in order to ascertain the identity of the suspect that could lead to his eventual arrest in the future.
