BAGUIO CITY – Annually, the Office of Civil Defense is recognizing outstanding performances of government entities, non-government instrumentalities and individuals who have rendered exemplary contribution in promoting and implementing significant Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) programs and innovations that build community resiliency in the long term. This is through Gawad KALASAG: Search for Excellence in Disaster Risk Management and Humanitarian Assistance. KALASAG stands for Kalamida at SAkuna LAbanan, SAriling Galing ang Kaligtasan.
Gawad KALASAG remains to be one of the country’s fully institutionalized program that promotes the spirit of volunteerism among agencies and individuals; measuring the capacity and capability of various stakeholders in identifying risks and vulnerabilities in the community, as well as addressing challenges on human-induced and natural emergencies and disasters.
The following are the categories: 1) local DRRM Council in the provincial, city, municipality and barangay level; 2) NGOs / CSOs / People’s Organization on humanitarian assistance; 3) Government Emergency Management Services groups; 4) Private Volunteer Organizations; 5) Hospitals (Health Facilities); 6) School from Early Learning System to Tertiary Level; 7) Heroic Acts of Individuals and Groups during emergency response and rescue; and 8) Special Recognition Awards for individuals and stakeholders.
On 5th of May, OCD Cordillera opens the Search for Regional Gawad KALASAG 2016 Awardees. Deadline of submission will be on May 31, 2016 at 5PM.
Entries should be three copies of hard bound documents within Calendar Year 2015 and/or School Year 2014-2015.
