NPA rebel arrested for various charges in Manabo

MANABO Manabo, Abra  – A 27-yeard official of the New Peoples Army (NPA) operating in Abra and Mountain Province voluntarily surrendered to police and military personnel during the service of his warrant of arrests for various charges at sitio Banatm barangay San Ramon East, here recently.

Senior Superintendent Antonio Bartolome, provincial director of the Abra Provincial Police Office, identified the surrenderee as Jerome Eslao Caw-is, 27, single, logistics officer of the NPA operating in Abra, Mountain Province and Ilocos Sur (AMPIS).

His surrender was facilitated by Tubo Mayor Gilbert Ballangan who painstakingly worked out the matter with the police and military authorities.

The surrenderee has pending warrants of arrest issued by Judge Rafael F. Alzate of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 58 in Bucya for murder with no bail recommended and three counts of frustrated murder with a total bail bond of P600,000 for his temporary liberty.

He was brought to the Manabo Rural Health Unit for medical check-up prior to his turnover to the Manbo Municipal Police Station for documentation and his subsequent turnover to the issuing court for the proper disposition of the case filed against him.
