Mankayan, Benguet- Mankayan National High School (MNHS) celebrated its 50th founding anniversary on March 8th and 9th with the theme “Through the years: Golden Footprint at its Finest.”
A thanksgiving service sponsored by Saint Joseph Church opened the event followed by the grand opening ceremony with Mayor Materno Luspian as the speaker, while Isabel Pongdad provide the history of the school from its humble beginnings while Julieta Tagway recalled the achievements of the institution.
Besides the friendship games in the afternoon, a welcome program was organised for the alumni with Alfredo Pladio giving a message and the learners showcasing their talents, as well as the school personnel welcoming the alumni with a variety show that started with a Cosplay Show. Community dancing and Music Jam concluded the first day.
The next day started with the alumni parading from Spillway down to school ground to begin the next day followed by Councilor Balodoy Totanes greeting the school on its golden anniversary exhorting everyone to look back and celebrate where everyone started.
In addition, ground demonstrations and batch presentations entertained all spectators with prices given to Grade-10 for the first place followed by Grade-9 then Grade-11. Meantime, Grade-12 landed 4th place while Grade-8 and Grade-7 ranked 5th and 6th respectively.
Furthermore, an alumni meeting and reorganization happened where Alfredo Pladio was retained as the president. The new set of officers bared the 7th Grand Alumni Homecoming and that will be on 2024.
