Minor drowns in Apayao cave

LUNA, Abra – A 9year old minor died after he allegedly drowned in a creek within the famous Lussok cave, Dagupan, here, Sunday.

Senior Superintendent Felix Dayag, officer-in-charge of the Apayao Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as King Zyrell Culita Bumanglag, 9-year old, grade 3 pupil and a resident of Purok Maligaya, barangay Dagupan, Luna, Apayao.

Initial police investigation showed the victim, together with his father and some companions, went to the said cave to spend a break.

While his father was left alone in the cottage, the victim and some children decided to go to swim the creek near the cave but he did not come out after dipping himself in the area.

When an elder went to the creek, he felt from his feet that there was a boy of a person inside the creek prompting him to seek assistance from rescuers nearby.

The body of the victim was able to be taken out of the creek and was given immediate first aid prior to his being rushed to the Amma Jadsac District Hospital where he was declared dead o arrival by attending physicians.

The case is still subject to further investigation by concerned police authorities.
