Firstly, great emphasis is given that the contents of this series are intended to give Biblical information and insights on some of its contents. They are not intended to scare or offend anyone. It is one’s prerogative to read and never be shoved into one’s throat.
It is in the “exercise and enjoyment of religious profession and worship, without discrimination or preference” as provided by The Philippine Constitution that this article was made.
If you find them scary, intimidating or offensive, please feel free to take them with a grain of salt and regard them like a badly written movie script.
This series would like to give proofs that don’t rely on bible contents to prove the book’s veracity and that it is not outdated.
There are some instances where the bible gave very specific instructions that had medical relation without giving the reason/s why. We now know why and telling the reason then may not be advisable because the recipients would not be able to comprehend and could led to losing faith in God.
The first case in this series is likely the “calling card” of the bible for this topic, it shows an action that was undeniably medically sound. The people of Israel would likely not have knowledge how this was so at the time it was made.
God takes away blood and fat from being eaten by his people, science confirms both are unhealthy foods
Let’s start up with a verse that I personally feel makes a homerun.
This one will make you trust in the bible more and pushes God is real more because it shows the main theme He has been preaching from the very start of the bible, he cares. He wants his people to blindly follow this particular offering process and science has proven why when viewed from the perspective of ordinary daily routine.
It’s fascinating to actually see how the wisdom imparted was actually protecting his people at a time they have absolutely no idea what it’s about:
“And the priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and burn the fat for a sweet aroma to the Lord”, Leviticus 17:12, New King James Version
Isn’t it amazing that God demanded the blood and fat of animal sacrifices be offered to him?
Why blood and fat? Ever wondered why not the entire animal?
God actually gave his people license to kill animals, benefit their meat for food and protected them from harm in doing so.
That was accomplished when He demanded parts of the sacrifice offering that are bad for human consumption be reserved for him!
Of course, it is now common knowledge, even to laymen, that blood can be a medium to transfer diseases and that fat may have a sweet aroma but is an unhealthy food.
People who were present during the time this verse was written could not understand what we do now and offering the sacrificed animal’s blood and fat (which prevents them from eating it) was actually for their own good.

Body fluids spreads disease; Quarantine, Social distancing, sterilization are excellent ways to prevent disease spread
Modern medicine has shown how different body fluids could transmit diseases such as what the world is experiencing with COVID-19. Medical experts now encouraged the wearing face mask and other types of protective equipment against contact with these fluids like cough droplets. We couldn’t count the times different health offices of governments emphasize the importance of quarantining and social distancing to prevent the COVID-19 spread.
The bible had asserted these principles way back before medicine understood why. It even applied a 14-day long quarantine period, although for a different case.
Numbers 12 relates the instructions from God, himself, telling Moses to quarantine Meriam who got spit on:
“14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not be shamed seven days? Let her be shut out of the camp seven days, and afterward she may be received again.” 15 So Miriam was shut out of the camp seven days, and the people did not journey till Miriam was brought in again.” Numbers 12: 14-15, NKJV
One of the well-known healing stories of Jesus was the cleansing of the Ten Lepers. Let Luke’s account of the incident show how the lepers applied physical distancing when they went to met Jesus.
“11 Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off.” Luke 17: 11-12
Leviticus 13 shows God applying a 14-day long quarantine to determine a scab from leprosy:
“1 And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying: 4 But if the bright spot is white on the skin of his body, and does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and its hair has not turned white, then the priest shall isolate the one who has the sore seven days. 5 And the priest shall examine him on the seventh day; and indeed if the sore appears to be as it was, and the sore has not spread on the skin, then the priest shall isolate him another seven days. 6 Then the priest shall examine him again on the seventh day; and indeed if the sore has faded, and the sore has not spread on the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; it is only a scab, and he shall wash his clothes and be clean.“, Leviticus 13: 1; 4-6
The book of Numbers Chapter 31: 19-24 tells the instructions of Moses and Eleazar to men of Israel who just returned from war [see how becoming in contact with blood, quarantining and sterilization by fire or water were emphasized]:
“19 And as for you, remain outside the camp seven days; whoever has killed any person, and whoever has touched any slain, purify yourselves and your captives on the third day and on the seventh day. 20 Purify every garment, everything made of leather, everything woven of goats’ hair, and everything made of wood.”
21 Then Eleazar the priest said to the men of war who had gone to the battle, “This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord commanded Moses: 22 Only the gold, the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead, 23 everything that can endure fire, you shall put through the fire, and it shall be clean; and it shall be purified with the water of purification. But all that cannot endure fire you shall put through water. 24 And you shall wash your clothes on the seventh day and be clean, and afterward you may come into the camp.” Numbers 31: 19-24, NKJV

Wine is a good disinfectant and oil helps heal wounds in various ways
In the gospel of Luke, Jesus was telling about a parable of a good Samaritan helping a stranger who got robbed and wounded by thieves because he fell ill. Part of the things the Samaritan did to help the man was:
“But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.”, Luke 10:33-34, New King James Version
Notice the use of wine, oil and bandage to treat the wounds. This practice could have been observable during the time this was written so it may not be surprising that this wound remedy was so written.
Still, the medical reasons of this remedy that Jesus supported, which modern science would later confirm, are known by Luke.
Wine is proven to the an effective disinfectant useful for reducing risk of wound infection while some oils can benefit the victim with reliefs such as disinfecting the wound, reduce the risk of infection and bacteria, calming and soothing pain and itchiness, and stopping the bleeding.
A doctor also realized that his practice of cleaning wounds and leave it open to “breathe” was so wrong. Dressing is an essential need for wound healing.

Loss of Blood causes death and blood may give life
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.” Leviticus 17:11, New King James Version
Chapter 17 of Leviticus basically discusses the sanctity of blood. Among the importance emphasized here are the requirements to Israelites to offer blood of ox, lamb, or goat to the tabernacle and the prohibiting of eating of blood.
Verse 11, it specifically states “life of the flesh is in the blood” long before science showed us its proper function.
We now know this to be true. As a student, we are taught in school the basic information that blood is a vital element for man to stay alive. It carries oxygen throughout the body. nourishment to the body, removes the waste material from the body, and maintains the body’s temperature.
We now also understand that blood can reveal different sickness and impurities in the blood compromises one’s life, as well as why blood transfusion and dialysis could extend the life of a sick person.
No wonder God uses it to symbolize an offering to atone souls!
