MANKAYAN, Benguet – The municipal government, the education department and the Far Southeast Gold Resources, Inc. (FSGRI) recently opened a community library along Giwi Street in barangay Poblacion to serve as an additional resource center not only for the students enrolled under the present blended learning but also the community.

He disclosed that the newly opened community library is equipped with a decent wifi connection and substantial research materials where students and residents could conduct their researches for them to cope with their studies and other related learning activities geared towards providing them with knowledge on the prevailing issues and concerns in the world amidst the ongoing wrath of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“ We deeply appreciate the initiative of our government and private sector partners in extending whatever available assistance that will help in improving the current status of the municipality, especially in terms of providing additional resource centers and increasing the opportunities of having access to the latest information and communication technology that will be instrumental i8n enhancing the delivery of basic services to the people, particularly those coming from the far flung areas,” Mayor Ayong stressed.
The local chief executive pointed out that the decision of the FSGRI to partner with the education department and the local government in the establishment of the community library is laudable that should serve as an eye opener for other interested private sectors in the municipality to be instrumental in improving the delivery of basic services to the people through their own corporate responsibility projects among other programs for the welfare of the people living in the different barangays.
According to him, the local government is always open to partnerships with concerned government agencies, the private sector and even individuals wanting to make their presence felt in the municipality so that there will be greater opportunities for the residents to access whatever services that will be provided by the partners to cascade the same to the remote villages in the locality.
Mayor Ayong claimed that the recent opening of the community library for both the students and residents was timely because of the earlier opening of classes for schoolyear 2020-2021 that opened the opportunity for people to have greater access to information, especially that the community library is equipped with decent wifi connection.
He urged students and residents to maximize the use of the community library for their studies and other related learning activities as it will also augment the presence of the municipal library as there will be made available substantial learning resources that could be used for whatever purposes.
