MANKAYAN, Benguet – Benguet Caretaker Congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Yap was able to source out sufficient funds that will bankroll the implementation of various infrastructure projects in some of the barangays that will help in improving the condition of a number of farm to market roads and other infrastructures in the municipality.
Yap, who chairs the House Committee on Appropriations, was able to source out the funds in coordination with the concerned government agencies tasked to oversee and monitor the implementation of priority development projects that will help in providing employment opportunities for residents and revive the local economy through increased economic activities and establish additional sources of livelihood of the populace.
Mayor Frenzel A. Ayong stated that the infrastructure projects that were provided with funding support from Congressman Yap include 4 improvement of farm to market roads, 4 constructions of barangay halls and 1 continuation of an uncompleted gymnasium project in various barangays of the municipality.
Ayong disclosed that the funded farm to market road include a P10 million and a P12.5 million farm to market road projects in barangay Balili, a P12.5 million similar project in barangay Taneg and a pP3 million project in one of the barangays in the municipality.
Further, the barangay hall projects also include the P4 million project in barangay Cabiten and P3 million barangay hall projects in barangays Colalo, Palasaan-Suyoc and Balili.
On the other hand, the local chief executive claimed that Congressman Yap will also fund the completion of the uncompleted gymnasium project in barangay Bulalacao for the same to serve as a multipurpose facility that will be beneficial to the residents in the said barangay.
According to him, the implementation of the programmed projects by next year will definitely contribute in the efforts of the municipal government and concerned government agencies to provide the farmers in the town’s vegetable-producing barangays easier access in the transport of their produce to the nearest trading center with the least damage with the least travel time.
Mayor Ayong stipulated that the upcoming construction and improvement of the barangay halls and the completion of a gymnasium project will also contribute in efforts to improve the delivery of basic services to the people of the recipient barangays aside from the provision of the use of the gymnasium for various public purposes.
He pointed out that the upcoming development projects in the municipality apart from those that will be funded by the limited funds of the municipal government and others that will come from various government agencies will help in sustaining the status of the municipality and will improve the present state of infrastructure municipal wide.
The Ayong expressed his gratitude to Congressman Yap and other responsible officials of the various government agencies for including Mankayan as one of the local governments that will benefit from the priority projects that they will be funding not only next year but also for the coming years.
