MANKAYAN, Benguet– The municipal government expressed its willingness to extend whatever available assistance within the limits of its existing resources to the different public schools to help in the implementation of blended learning once regular classes resume on August 24, 2020.

Mayor Frenzel A. Ayong said that the municipal school board is closely working with education officials, teachers, Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) organization and other concerned stakeholders to identify the areas of cooperation and where the local government could extend the needed support because of the expected new normal situation during the resumption of classes.

Initially, he disclosed that the local government is working with the private sector in the municipality for the fabrication of wash stations that will be distributed to the different public schools for use by the teachers and students who will be physically going to school aside from the ongoing trainings for PTA officers and teachers on basic health protocols to ensure their readiness to effectively and efficiently handle suspected and probable Corona Virus Disease (COVID) 2019 cases in their areas of jurisdiction.

Earlier, education officials called on local governments to extend whatever available assistance to the different schools that are situated in their places to allow the smooth implementation of blended learning among the students in their respective localities.

Mayor Ayong claimed that he made representations with some telecommunication companies on the possible improvement of the internet signal in remote communities in the municipality but the same might take a longer period of time to be realized, thus, one of the aspects of education under consideration is the modular mode that will require more vehicles to transport the learning materials to the far flung areas in the municipality which the local government could offer.

“ We are willing to provide our schools with the much needed assistance that is why we are closely working with our education officials, principals, teachers and other concerned stakeholders for the identification the areas where we could infuse the available limited resources for the sake of our children being provided with quality education admits the global pandemic,” Mayor Ayong stressed.

The local chief executive pointed out that it is important for the youth to have a solid foundation on basic education so that they will be able to achieve their dreams and aspirations that is why local officials are doing their best to source out whatever available resources that will be made available to sustain the smooth implementation of blended learning for them not to be left out in the highly competitive environment.

According to him, there is a need for concerned stakeholders to closely work together in the identification of the areas of cooperation in providing support to ensuring that there will be minimal problems in the schools during the resumption of classes so that there will be no unnecessary delays in the conduct of classes in whatever mode that will be feasible in the municipality.
