LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A 26-year old man died after he was stabbed to death by a drinking partner inside the latter’s boarding house at Inselbeg, Lubas, here, Sunday.
Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, identified the fatality as Edwin Bumatay Abaya, 26, single, and resident at LA Lubas, La Trinidad Benguet while he named the suspect as Arjay Roldan Guzman.
Initial police investigation showed that the suspect and his council were having a drinking session inside their boarding house when the victim decided to join them.
While they were enjoying their drinking session, the victim and the suspect had a heated altercation that resulted to the latter punching the former despite his appeal for him to calm down because they do not want to retaliate.
However, the victim continued punching the suspect that forced him to get a bottle and hit him on his head before grabbing a knife and stabbing him on his neck and chest.
The suspects immediately fled towards an undisclosed direction while the victim was immediately rushed to the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) for medical treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians.
The suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation by responding police operatives for him to answer for the crime he committed.
