Man drowns in Chico river

BONTOC, Mountain Province September 25 – A 21-year old adult died after he drowned in the Chico river when he attempted to go swimming alone at Kadchog, Bontoc, Ili, here, Sunday afternoon.

Police authorities identified the fatality as Warren Bruce Fangwa Tudlong, 21, single and resident of Chakchakan, Bontoc Ili, Bontoc, Mountain Province.

Initial police investigation showed the victim and his father went to the Chico river to have swimming lessons in the morning but he decided to go alonge in the river to swim in the afternoon of the same day.

However, the victim allegedly drowned that prompted rescuers to immediately rescue him and rush him to the Bontoc General Hospital for medical treatment where he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians due to respiratory failure secondary to drowning.

The cadaver of the victim was brought home by his parents to give him the needed wake and burial.
