BAGUIO CITY – Excellent cultural ethnic performances, colorful clothing products and delicious delicacies from Northern Mindanao highlighted the opening of the “Pasundayag sa Northern Mindanao 2016” at SM City Baguio from May 26 to June 1.
The Department of Tourism Region 10 conducted a grand promotional activity in support to the initiatives of the private sector to strengthen the foundations of the new establishments, products, services and destinations in Northern Mindanao.
“NorthMin CAR CAN ” themes this year’s PASUNDAYAG SA NORTHERN MINDANAO 2016 is a weeklong marketing and promotions event aimed to heighten the foundation of the tourism industry in both North Philippines and Northern Mindanao.
The event, which aimed to showcase the whole of the tourism industry in Region 10, was done in cooperation with the Local Government Units, which brought the best products from food to handicrafts to Baguio City. Most parts of the activity presented rich culture and heritage through the cultural performances rendered by the Department of Tourism-10 Singing Ambassadors, and Kalimulan Cultural Dance Troupe of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, Iligan City and Sinanduloy Dance Troupe of Tangub City.
Daily programs will be hosted by the participating Local Government Units. Songs, rituals and Dances of the 7 tribes of Bukidnon, the Subanon Tribes of Misamis Occidental and the Maranaos of Lanao Provinces enhanced the show with authentic performances.
Dignitaries from the Baguio City and the officials from the Cordillera Administrative Region graced the activities during the Opening Ceremonies and daily shows. Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan, gave an inspiring message that warmed the hearts of everyone as evidence of his support to the tourism industry.
Dir. Catalino E. Chan III, Department of Tourism Region 10 office, expressed his most profound gratitude to the support given to this project especially both to SM City Baguio and Cagayan de Oro, Cebu Pacific Air, the group’s official airline, Regional Development Council thru National Economic Development Authority Region 10, the Northern Mindanao Regional Tourism Council 10, Department of Tourism Region III and the corresponding media partners; to the exhibitors led by the Local Government Units; Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Cagayan de Oro City, El Salvador City, Iligan City, Ozamiz City, Tangub City and Valencia City and the traders; Vjandep Bakeshop, Southern Philippines, SLERS, Kamumay, Sahara and Astral Gems, Puyo Handicrafts, Nanay Cholengs Moron, Cagayan de Oro City Hotel and Restaurant Association and Cagayan de Oro Travel and Tours Association, the region’s different tourism councils for their untiring support and participation to the programs and activities of DOT-10.
