Mayor Benjamin Magalong commended the maintenance personnel of the City Engineering Office and barangays surrounding the City Camp basin for their efforts to avert flooding at the critical area.
CEO personnel under City Engineer Edgar Victorio Olpindo kept watch over the drainage tunnel to ensure that the inlet remains unclogged to avoid flooding amidst the torrential rains brought by the southwest monsoon.
“Despite the continuous heavy rains, the drainage condition remained okay thanks to the monitoring and quick action by our CEO personnel and barangays,” the mayor said.
The mayor who along with City Administrator Bonifacio Dela Peña inspected the flood-prone area last July 28 observed that that unlike before, no household wastes were accumulated at the inlet.
“Mabuti na lang relatively malinis. Wala na yung mga dating maraming basura. It only shows the barangays are doing a good job disciplining their residents on garbage disposal,” he said.
Dela Peña said the drainage systems at City Camp Lagoon and other rivers appear to be performing well.
“No clogging, no flooding thanks to our maintenance department of CEO and our barangay officials,” he said. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
