La Trinidad, Benguet March 19 – The La Trinidad Municipal Government ordered the closure of establishments not providing basic necessities in the municipality until further notice as part of the conditions imposed under the declaration of an enhanced community quarantine in Luzon from March 16 to April 15, 2020.
Mayor Romeo K. Salda issued Executive Order No. 09, series of 2020, disclosing that among the establishments that should be closed during the quarantine period include bars, computer shops, billiard halls, wag-wagan, dry goods or apparel, cellphone or gadget shops, parlors or salons or barbershops, automotive supplies, auto repair or machine shops, hardware, and car wash.
On the other hand, he disclosed that restaurants and other food establishments shall open for takeout only.
The municipal chief executive pointed out there shall be no loitering in the whole municipality during the quarantine period and that curfew hours will be from 8 pm to 5 pm, thus, personnel of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (LTMPS), barangay officials, barangay tanods and members of the barangay peacekeeping action teams (BPATs) will be making the round-the-clock surveillance and monitoring on the compliance of the public to the prescribed curfew hours.
Further, Salda claimed that groceries, stores and marts will be allowed to open from 6 am to 7 pm.
Salda was compelled to issue the aforesaid order as one of the recommended precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in the municipality following the confirmation of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III that there is already local and community transmission of the deadly virus.
Under the recent issuances from the Office of the President and the Office of the Executive Secretary, local chief executives are tasked to implement measures relative to achieving the ends of the declared enhanced community quarantine to protect the public from untoward incidents inimical to their safety and security.
“We earnestly appeal to our constituents to understand and cooperate in the implementation of stringent policies that will restrict their mobility considering that the same is for their safety and security and such inconveniences will be temporary until such time that the situation will normalize,” Mayor Salda stressed.
Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte declared the country under a state of public health emergency following the continued increase of confirmed COVID cases in the country coupled with the community transmission of the deadly virus before the same was elevated into a state of enhanced community quarantine in Luzon, and now nationwide
Salda urged residents to use their precious time at home by maximizing their time with their families while under quarantine period improve their harmonious working relationship within their families while awaiting the situation to normalize.
