BAGUIO CITY September 11 – The supposed leader of the breakaway group from the Blessed Association of Retired Persons (BARP), Inc. was recently issued a warrant of arrest by the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) after the city prosecutor’s office recommended the filing of grave oral defamation against her.
Judge Glenda T. Ortiz-Soriano issued the warrant of arrest against Menchita R. Damoslog, who is the president of the Cordillera Mutual Aid Program (CMAP), a breakaway group from the BARP, for alleged grave oral defamation and directed authorized law enforcement officers to effect her immediate arrest.
The case against Damoslog stemmed from the complaint for alleged grave oral defamation and slander by deed filed by Prof. Federico Balanag, BARP president,.
On May 12, 2013, at around 10 in the morning, Balanag was at their office at BARP located along Buhagan Road when Damoslog rushed to his office and went in front of his table and uttered in a loud menacing and arrogant tone “You are nothing as a president of the foundation, get out of here.”
He narrated thereafter Damoslog brought out a paper which is actually the letter returned to her by Balangag showing the recommendation of the grievance and mediation committee recommendation her suspension due to her alleged disloyalty to the foundation, disrespect to her superior officers and the pending estafa case filed against her.
Damoslog alleged tore, crumpled and threw the letter to Balanag’s desk and that all of Damoslog’s acts were reportedly witnessed by the BARP employees who were then at the office at that time of the incident.
As a result of the Damoslog’s accusation, Balanag felt humiliated and degraded, thus, he decided to file the case against her to teach her the necessary lesson.
The resolution of the city prosecutor’s office stated the actuations of the respondent Damoslog clearly shows that she was disrespectful not only of the office and position held by the complainant but also of his person.
However, the crime of slander by deed was dismissed but the crime of grave oral defamation will be elevated against her for the conduct of a full blown hearing.
