BAGUIO CITY– A 24-year old lady died after she allegedly committed suicide by taking a still undetermined white substance inside a room of Katipunan Inn I, Calatiao St. here around 7:20 of Valentines’ Day.
Senior Superintendent George D. Daskeo, officer-in-charge of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the alleged suicide victim as Mary Ann Naoe Garcia, 24, single and a resident of Loakan, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed the victim, together with a male companion, checked in the hotel at around 4:45 pm Sunday but her male companion reportedly went out of the establishment 30 minutes later.
At around 7:20 pm, Juliet Daluyen Evasco, 43, manager of the hotel wen to knock on the door of the room which the victim and her companion occupied to remind them of the check out time but no one responded.
At this juncture, the hotel manager and her companions decided to remove the cover of the door and they were surprised to see the victim’s lifeless body on the bed.
The incident was immediately reported to the local police and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team that processed the crime scene recovered a container with white substance believed to have been used by the victim in the suicide incident.
Further, several suicide notes were also recovered by probers in the crime scene but the victim did not sustain any sign of external injuries that could help in ruling out a foul play in the matter.
The alleged suicide notes were addressed to her mother, declaring her love for them and for her parents to look after the welfare of her child.
