BAGUIO CITY – A 37-year old labourer was hurt after he was repeatedly punched and mauled by a pocket miner for still unknown reasons inside a bar along Jacinto Street over the weekend.

Senior Superintendent Rolando F. Miranda, officer-in-charge of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the victim as Roy dela Cruz Cortez, 37, separated, labourer and a resident of Purok 14, Cypress, Irisan, Baguio City, while he named the suspect only as a certain Julius, of legal age, and a resident of Padcal, Camp 3, Tuba, Benguet.

Initial police investigation showed that the victim and his companions were drinking inside the establishment when the suspect entered the same and suddenly punched the helpless victim several times on the different parts of his body before fleeing towards an undisclosed direction.

He was immediately rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment while police operatives subjected the suspect to a manhunt operation for him to answer for the crime he committed against the victim.
