Laborer hacked in Kalinga

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A 26-year old labourer was hurt after he was hacked by an assailant for still unknown reasons at Bulanao here Friday night.

Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, officer-in-charge of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Oliver Magadang Dongnga, 26, single, laborer and a resident of Apatan, Pinukpuk, Kalinga while he named the suspect as Florante Fernandez of legal age  and a resident of same place.

Initial police investigation showed the victim and his companions were walking along the road when they met the suspect, who was then armed with a bolo, and for still unknown reasons, the suspect reportedly hacked the victim several times but the victim was able to parry some of the hacks that inflicted injuries on his hands.

He was immediately rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment but was discharged after doing so while the suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation.
