SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Two members of a Drug Group operating in La Union and a companion are now facing raps as they were arrested in two separate anti-drug sting operations by anti-narcotics agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Region 1 (PDEA-RO1) on April 5, 2016.
In a report submitted to PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr., the arrested drug group member was identified as 29 year old Alvin Baluyot y Dela Cruz a resident of Barangay Ilocanos Norte, La Union. Law enforcers confiscated 2 sachets of shabu and the buy bust money used in the transaction.
PDEA RO1 Regional Director Adrian G. Adrian Alvariño also confirmed that the other buy bust in the same barangay led to the arrest of 28 year old Andrew Rodriguez who is also a member of the same drug group of Alvin Baluyot and companion Flory Ann Ferrera. A PDEA agent who posed as a buyer initially bought two sachets of shabu from Andrew then declared his identity and the arrest. Three more sachets of the illegal drugs were found when he was frisked adding more charges. Flory Ann was also inspected and was discovered to be hiding a sachet of shabu.
Both Drug Group Members are facing charges of section 5 “Selling of Illegal Drugs”, which is penalized by life imprisonment with a fine of 500,000 to 10M pesos of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. On the other hand, “Possession of Illegal Drugs” under Section 11 is an added charge to the two including Flory Ann as they were found to be in possession of illegal drugs when searched.
