Hedcor, guided by its promise to advance communities, partnered with Synergeia to take the drivers’ seats in the education reform of the municipalities of Bakun and Sablan in Benguet and in Sabangan, Mt. Province to achieve a hundred percent Cohort Survival Rate amidst the pandemic.
Synergeia is a coalition of individuals, institutions and organizations working together to improve the quality of basic education.
“Hedcor wants to provide as many students as possible the improved learning opportunities they deserve without compromising quality. This is in accordance with Hedcor’s commitment to help address the cohort survival rate of the three municipalities despite the crisis we are facing,” says Romeo Catingub, Hedcor’s Corporate Social Responsibility officer.
With the Local School Board (LSB) chaired by the Mayors, various online capacity-building activities are being carried out. Through the Paaralang Bahay portal, educators can download videos and e-copies of materials in teaching Reading, Math and Good Morals and Right Conduct. A guide on how parents can facilitate the learning and studies of their children is also available in the said portal (https://paaralangbahay.synergeia.org.ph/).
Other initiatives to strengthen distance learning includes Writeshops for teachers on Developing Remote Learning Modules from July to August. Parents’ Workshop on Distance Learning (Parenting sa Panahon ng Pandemya) started in August up to present.
Gloria Dapdap, Principal of Ampusongan National High School said, “In DepEd really, we are looking for partners and this program spearheaded by Hedcor will adhere to the needs of our learners. We are looking forward to achieving a 100% completion rate through this partnership.”
