CAMP MAJOR BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet- By virtue of a search warrant, a Forest Ranger was arrested for illegal possession of firearm by the joint operatives of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Benguet Provincial Field Unit, La Trinidad MPS, and RIU-14 in Tawang, La Trinidad Benguet on June 28.
Based on the reports submitted by Benguet PPO, PROCOR Regional Director PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE identified the suspect as Ronnie Banghot Gawayon, 49, and currently working at Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), Kabayan.
With the search warrant issued by Judge Amparo M. Malinias Espada of Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC), the joint operation resulted to the discovery of one (1) Cal .45 pistol (Armscor) with defaced serial number, two (2) magazines for cal. 45 with six (6) live ammos.
Suspect Gawayon along with the seized pieces of evidence were brought under the custody of CIDG Benguet PFU for proper documentation and dissemination for inquest proceedings. He is now facing charges for Violation of Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions (RA 10591). (PROCOR-PIO)
