PILAR, Abra – A 22-year old farmer was hurt after he was shot by a 43-year old farmer during a heated altercation in a wake at Ocup, here, recently.
Senior Superintendent Antonio Bartolome, provincial director of the Abra Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as wherein Kenedy Molina Bermudez, 22, single, farmer while he named the suspect as Eldred James Dieza Cabanes, 43, married, farmer, both residents of Ocup, Pilar, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim went to attend the wake of the suspect’s mother when a heated argument suddenly ensued between them.
At this juncture, the suspect allegedly slapped and kicked the victim forcing him to go home to call his two brothers in order to retaliate.
Upon arrival in the place of incident, the suspect reportedly shot the victim on his chest prompting concerned citizens to rush him to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but he was ordered confined.
Responding police operatives were able to arrest the suspect but the firearm used in the incident was not recovered.
