LUNA, Apayao – A 35-year old farmer was hurt after he was accidentally shot by a construction worker while they were hunting fir birds at Mabulao, Sta. Elena, Luna here recently.
Senior Superintendent Felix Dayag, officer-in-charge of the Apayao Provincial Police Office, identified the wounded individual as Paul Lanao Inonog, 35, farmer, while he named the suspect as Jose Agcaolli Cabulagan, 24, construction worker both residents of Sitio Maligaya, Dagupan, Luna, Apayao.
Initial police investigation showed the victim and the suspect, together with other companions, went to gather the fruits of coconut trees after eating their lunch.
While some of them were gathering coconut fruits, the victim and the suspect agreed to go hunting for birds using the latter’s air gun.
After a few moments, the victim requested that he will be the one to use the firearm and after firing it once, he returned the same to the suspect and upon handing it over to him, he accidentally pulled the trigger that caused it to fire off hitting the victim on his left thigh.
The victim was rushed by their companions to the Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center for medical treatment while the suspect voluntarily surrendered to the responding police operatives awaiting the filing of appropriate charges against him.
