TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A farmer died after he was hacked by a fellow farmer at sitio Isla Basao, San Juan, here Thursday night.
Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, officer-in-charge of the Kalinga Provincial Office, identified the victim as Lawrence Pudayan, legal age and a resident of Brgy Malin-awa, Tabuk city, Kalinga, while he named the suspect as Binsay Ballong Dugay, 56, married and a resident of Sitio Isla Basao, barangay San Juan, Tabuk City.
Initial police investigation showed the suspect was currently watering his plants using the irrigation canal when he was asked by the victim to stop.
However, a heated altercation suddenly ensued between them that caused the victim to leave the place momentarily.
When he came back, he was already armed with a bladed weapon which he used to hack the victim on his nape before immediately fleeing the crime scene.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival while the suspect is still subject to a manhunt operation.
