Farmer dies after jumping off bus

KABAYAN , Benguet April 19 – A 67-year old farmer died after he jumped off a Baguio-bound passenger bus when he tried to go after his sack of rice that fell off the vehicle at sitio Besang, Adaoay, here Tuesday morning.

Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Jimmy Dala-oy Elio 67 years old, farmer residence of Besang, Adaoay, Kabayan, Benguet.

Initial police investigation showed the victim hitched a ride on the Baguio-bound A Liner with a sack of rice placed on the front door.

However, probers revealed the sack of rice fell off the vehicle that prompted him to go after the same in order to save it from falling but he fell of the vehicle and banged his head and body on the concrete pavement.

The victim was rushed to the Dennis Molintas Memorail Hospital for medical treatment but he was referred to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for further treatment.

The victim expired at around 3 pm while undergoing treatment of the multiple his head and body injuries that he sustained as a result of the accident.
