Escape gone wrong: a drug personality in Kalinga arrested after jumping in Chico River

CAMP MAJOR BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad Benguet- PROCOR operatives led by the Regional Intelligence Division (RID) together with PDEA Cordillera arrested an identified drug personality at Tabuk City in the morning of April 7, 2021.

The Provincial Director of Kalinga, PCOL DAVY VICENTE LIMMONG, identified the suspect as Ruben Appag, 27, of Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga.

According to the reports, in a supposed buy-bust operation, the suspect sensed that he will be transacting with a police officer, so he tried to escape by jumping from a near ravine at Kalinga Chico River.

The operating troops immediately ran after the suspect and found Appag lying near the riverbed of Chico River.

Immediately, the operatives called the assistance of the Bureau Fire Protection (BFP) to help in rescuing the suspect who incurred several injuries.

Onsite, confiscated items from the suspect were two (2) bags containing four (4) pieces of tubular form and 19 pieces in the brick form of suspected marijuana dried leaves and stalks. The confiscated drugs have an estimated weight of 23 kilos with a standard drug price value of Php 2,760,000.00.

During the inventory of the pieces of evidence recovered, the witnesses were Kagawads of Barangay Loccong, a media, and a DOJ representative.

The arrested suspect was brought to Kalinga Provincial Hospital for medical treatment while appropriate charges for violating R.A 9165 or the comprehensive dangerous drugs act of 2002 will be filed against him. (PROCOR RPIO)
