LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A 46-yer old electrician was hurt after his head was struck with a hard object from behind by a still unidentified male suspect while attending a wake at Byagan, Poblacion, here recently.
Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Ronnie Sarape Corpuz, 46, married, private electrician, native and residence of AC-172 Eastern, Buyagan, Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet, while the suspect, who happens to be a neighbour of one of those well wishers, was able to escape after the incident.
Initial police investigation showed the victim confronted the suspect about their parking space in the area when the suspect’s aunt allegedly intervened in the altercation.
While the victim and the suspect’s aunt were talking, the suspect suddenly struck his head from behind with a hard object before fleeing from the crime scene.
However, one of those who witnessed the incident informed probers that the suspect was his neighbour while the victim was rushed to the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) for medical treatment.
The suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation by elements of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station for him to answer for the crime he committed.
