TABUK CITY, Kalinga- With the installation of 22 streetlights, residents of Barangay Dupag, as well as travelers, can now travel to and from the city with more sense of security.
The installation of streetlights in the barangay was one of the projects of the City Local Government Unit (CLGU) for the year 2020 in the amount of Php 1 Million.
According to Dupag Barangay Captain, Domini Adolfo, the streetlights are a great help in their community as they provide lighting for their residents going home or travelling at nightime.
Adolfo added that although all the streetlights were meant to be installed beside the national road, they opted to put some in dark pathways and communities near the river per request of the residents.
“Iti instruction ket ikabil ijay abay ti kalsada [national road] ngem agrequest met dagituy kakailyan ah kasapulan maikkan met dagituy remotest sitios, dagijay pathways da, pati riverside,” he said.
Aside from the streetlights, the CLGU also constructed a perimeter fence for a school in said barangay worth Php 250 Thousand.
The Punong Barangay expressed his gratitude for the projects done in his barangay and said that the barangay council will take good care of the same.
Aside from the streetlights and perimeter fence, other projects are currently underway in the barangay such as better pathways from sitios to the national road.
Once completed, travel time will not only be cut short but transportation of products will become easier.
Adolfo added that there are more projects needed in their barangay such as the improvement of water works, construction of roads and bridges and the like which are listed as their priorities for 2021.
He believes that with the continuous effort from both the barangay and the city government, in time, all projects will be realized for the improvement not just of their barangay, but of the city as a whole. By Edward Joseph Gacuya
