MANKAYAN, Benguet June 19 – A 38-year old driver was injured after he was allegedly hacked by a drunke miner in front of a store at Upper Guiwe St., Poblacion, here, Saturday.
Police authorities identified the arrested individual as Nestor Kitayan Martin, 38, married, driver, native resident of Camampaguey, Cabiten, Mankayan, Benguet while the suspect was named as Marion Colse Sayud, 28, single, miner, native of Payeo, Bedbed, Mankayan, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was scolding a passenger for carelessly unloading a gas tank that scratched the paint of his vehicle.
At this juncture, the suspect, who was armed with a bolo and allegedly under the influence of liquor, thought that he was the one being scolded, thus, he suddenly hacked the victim on his right arm that resulted to his sustaining injuries.
The victim was rushed to the Mankayan rural health unit for medical treatment before being transferred to the Lepanto Hospital for further treatment while the suspect was arrested by responding police operatives and is now detained at the Mankayan Municipal Police Station for the filing of the appropriate charges against him.
