One hundred thirty-one (131) graduating scholars of the Department of Science and Technology Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) convened for an exit conference conducted by the Cordillera office of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-CAR) last March 29, 2019 at the Citylight Hotel, Baguio City.
The said conference is an annual activity for graduating DOST Scholars which highlights the responsibilities to be rendered by the scholars as stated in the return service agreement. DOST-CAR Science research specialist Maritess Banaña, during her discussion of the policies after graduation, stated that the purpose of the exit conference is to remind the scholars of their service obligations after graduation and the requirements they need to submit. “Aside from that, we also promote the graduate school service programs since we also offer scholarships for graduate school for teachers, engineers and other courses related to basic sciences,” she added.
The scholars were advised by Sylvester Sanchez and Kenneth Laruan, scholar of 2008 under RA 7687 and ASTHRDP scholar respectively, while Elena Tawanna of DepEd-CAR presented opportunities for the scholars through the hiring guidelines under RA 10612, also known as “Fast-Tracked S&T Scholarship Act of 2013.”
All participants came from different state universities and colleges and higher education institutions in the region.
