TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Department of Information Communication and Technology (DICT) partnered with the CLGU Information Communication and Technology Office (CICTO) to conduct Digital Literacy Training among computer designates city government employees.
Henry Gupa-al, representative of the Mayor’s Office, said the conference is especially essential at the city government since technology evolves too fast and to become a more efficient public servant, one must keep up with its progression. He also commended the involved offices for the possibility of the said event.
The 5-day training was particularly focused on the thorough utilization of Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
Aside from references, computer necessities such as keyboard shortcuts and buying excellent laptops were also discussed.
The DICT also tackled cybercrime, as the Philippines is exposed to various cyberattacks due to its status as the leading country in terms of social media users, providing a wider forum for criminal activity.
The DICT representatives warned the attendees about key cyber threats such as online dating, fake news, ransomware, and the public disclosure of personal information on numerous social media sites.
