BAGUIO CITY – Barangay Loacan Organic Farmers Association (BLOFA) of Sitio Bacong, Loacan, Itogon received a mini-retailing organic trading center worth P 690,000 during the center’s inauguration last January 26, 2017.
The mini-retailing trading center for organic products will serve as an outlet for organic products to facilitate the access of these products to the consumers.
Crispin Abellera, the BLOFA chairperson, said that the trading center will go a long way in encouraging the members to expand production and increase the volume of organic products sold in the market effectively increasing their individual income.
The products to be sold will be strictly produced by credible and certified organic farmers. Further, a quarantine system will be installed and observed in every procurement transaction to ensure the quality, traceability, and assurance of the products to the buying public as real organic and safe to consume.
The establishment will also serve as an outlet for organic products from nine ther barangays of the municipality of Itogon, and even nearby municipalities such as Bokod, Kabayan, and La Trinidad.
The trading center will start its services within the month of February with products such as assorted low land and upland vegetables and root crops, assorted fruits and coffee products, kintoman rice, poultry, pork, and livestock products, organic inputs and supplies.
