TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The city government earmarked PhP52 million for the implementation of various road projects in Cudal in 2022 where the bulk of the funds are intended for the construction of farm-to-market roads (FMRs), specifically one spanning the sitio of Tanufong to Balabal, and another one in sitio Makuyun.
Kagawad Danilo Dao-wan said they are prioritizing FMRs in Tanufong and Balabal as it is where the largest farms of Cudal are located.
He said he was grateful that after a long time of being undeveloped, these areas are now being given attention under the administration of Mayor Darwin Estrañero. “Medyo haan dakami mapansin nga daduma idi, tatta kami lang [makaala ti kastuy nga projects],” he said.
Dao-awan said the PhP20 million fund allocated for the improvement of roads in their barangay Centro is intended for the concreting of remaining unpaved barangay roads that connect residences to the main highway as well as the concreting of roads going to their high school and elementary school.
Recently, the City Engineering Office also started validating for the implementation of a PhP1.5 million road concreting project in sitio Sinnafatan. Dao-awan said aside from being narrow and difficult to navigate during the rainy season, the road is due for upgrades as sections of it are eroding.
While waiting for these road projects to be implemented, Cudal is benefitting from completed projects in 2021 including an initial concreting program of the farm-to-market road in sitio Balabal, improvement of roads in sitio Garuwad and Sinnafatan, and the concreting of a section of a road going to their barangay hall which also serves as an alternate road to their high school. “Permi pitak na idi. Marigatan agshort-shortcut dituy isu nga daytuy ti napili da nga ma-concrete,” Kagawad Aladdin Gaddawon related.
Gaddawon said the city government also funded the construction of a deep well and a stage for the high school for students to have a venue for their graduation rites and other activities. By Tabuk City PIO
